Economist and Translator

General Background

I completed my first assignment as a translator and liaison interpreter when I was 19 years old, working for an engineering consulting firm. I soon left that job to expand my horizons without knowing that ten years later I would return to the translation world, from a different perspective.

I've aquired over 6 years of experience as a full time translator, more than 8 years as an economic consultant for national governmental organizations, mainly in the statistics sector, and about 10 years in the private environmental industry. I've taught courses at the university and currently participate in international academic research teams on urban planning issues.

I obtained my Bachelor´s degree in Economics (6-year career) in 2000 and I'm a thesis away from my Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning (2-year postgraduate course), both at the University of Buenos Aires. I also finished a postgraduate course in Environment, Economics and Society (6-month course) at the Latin American Social Sciences School (FLACSO). I've approved the ISO 14000 (environmental quality) internal and external auditor courses at the National Institute of Certification of Argentina (IRAM) and I was a senior student at Pocatello High School, Idaho, USA. I´ve also attended to Economics courses for a semester at ISU, Idaho, USA.

Translation Specifics

I translate from English into Argentine (my native variant), Latin American or Neutral Spanish (EN>ES-ar/la/em). I´ve lived in Argentina, the USA and Spain. This makes me highly aware of cultural issues and language nuances.

I work with state-of-the-art software for human translation, usually called CAT tools, as it allows me to conduct quality assurance steps before delivering my work.

I'm fast and accurate, and although I enjoy challenges, I only translate texts related to subjects I'm comfortable with. I provide expertise, availability, timeliness and good humor at reasonable rates.
